Ink in Light

Ink in Light

A tattoo is an emotion. It gives strength, it is a memory and you always wear it with you. Ink in Light tells the story of the ownner of the tattoo. Love, birth, the innocence, seeing and discovering. Growing and changing, experiencing and witnessing, making choices. Learn from it and creating new questions. Orienting, growing up, feeling helplessness. Embracing and losing love. Being reborn and starting over. It is a personal story.

The installation on the striking chimneys of Strijp-T shows ‘old school’ works. A couple of lines without shadows. The phenomenon of tattooing is thousands of years old. But continues to evolve. Sanders’ installation therefore fits Strijp-T perfectly. This area is also constantly evolving. Working together on the future is done by experimenting, looking for new solutions and developing them from idea into reality. Make, Create, Innovate!

The chimneys, the beacons of Strijp-T are in the installation of Ink in Light, as it were, two arms on which visual artist Linda Sanders brings her designs to life for once. In 2020 the canvas for this work was designed by Hugo Vrijdag for the striking chimneys of Strijp-T. It invites artists to show their work to passers-by.

About the artist

Linda Sanders & Hugo Vrijdag

Linda Sanders from Eindhoven first came into contact with the tattooworld when she was 12 years old. She went to a tattoo shop with a homemade design that her mother got. The seed had been planted and the beginning made to make ‘flash’ (design) for tattoo shops. This changed in the course of the years into the desire to do own tattoos. But twenty years ago it was easier said than done. Especially for a woman. Yet she persisted and in the meantime she is so renowned and is her work so highly appreciated that she can count top national football players among her clientele. She regularly travels across the border tattooing het own designs on (famous) persons. She has made her hobby her job and especially loves the unexpected that a creative process brings about.

Hugo Vrijdag graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven. As a visual artist and designer he combines his fascination for technology with storytelling. Stories form the basis of his designs. They take shape in feature films and pieces of art in public space. In this way Vrijdag has made several light installations for GLOW in public space over the years.
