Imagine a person at a desk, writing—not with a pen or pencil, but with a laser that forms words in the dark. These words appear sharply on a photoluminescent (glow-in-the-dark) surface, only to slowly fade and disappear, like an endless stream of thoughts passing through the mind.

KRYT, an artwork by Gijs van Bon, enables writing with light. A blue laser, directed onto a glow-in-the-dark surface, leaves a precise, brilliant trail. These words remain briefly visible, legible, before gradually dissolving into darkness. The fragile words, like writing with a finger in the sand, are crafted slowly and deliberately by the laser.

The texts were created by city poet Monique Hendriks and city writer Corinne Heyrmann. They evoke thoughts, images, and stories, reminding us of the fleeting nature of words.

KRYT is both visual and conceptual: light here symbolizes the mind, intellect, and thought. The process of words appearing clearly, fading, and dissolving connects us to the transience of thought itself. Word by word, KRYT invites viewers to step into the world of writing, experiencing the ephemeral nature of each moment.
