Over de kunstenaar
Gijs van Bon
Gijs van Bon creates abstract kinetic works, light art, and time-based installations. His distinctly physical works seamlessly blend elements of technology, art, and theatrical performance. Using an expanding repertoire of technical innovations and materials, he designs meticulously choreographed objects that move slowly. These installations often ‘come to life,’ becoming autonomous theatrical events. His works, both large and small, invite viewers to look closer, expanding notions of time, language, and space.
Gijs van Bon (1975) studied at the Design Academy Eindhoven and later pursued theatrical design at the HKU. Since 2001, his work has been showcased in galleries, art centers, and festivals worldwide. He lives in Nuenen and works from his dynamic studio ‘La Citta Mobile’ in Eindhoven, collaborating with other artists and designers.
