Rejoice in the Lamb

The Philips Philharmonic Choir collaborates with lighting designer Michel Suk during GLOW.

In the Catharinakerk, the choir gives special concerts with unique lighting effects. Under the direction of Gijs Leenaars, the 70-member choir will perform the composition “Rejoice in the Lamb” by Benjamin Britten, accompanied by an organ and soloists. The piece is designed for the acoustics of a large church, making full use of the reverberation in the building.

“Rejoice in the Lamb” consists of several parts with different characteristics, some mysterious or peaceful, others powerful or rebellious. Michel Suk uses projections and LED lighting to accentuate the sung music. Light and sound complement each other, leading the audience on an adventure of space, light, color, and shadow.
