A human being is a complex and beautifully layered being. We are constantly growing. We go through wonderful and difficult experiences alike. We carry emotions, thoughts, and plans. We see things succeed, and sometimes fail. And all of those experiences together shape our story.
The artwork Onder de Huid van Licht (Beneath the Skin of Light) makes this idea of continuous growth powerfully tangible. Take a walk through the orange tunnel designed by 17-year-old pre-university student Fenne Dinsbach from Het Macropedius | Commanderij College. The soothing orange glow will warm your senses. Light from above and the sides casts shadows of the intricate engravings and lines along the tunnel. They symbolize our values, our emotions, the lessons we have learned, and our evolving experiences.
This work shows us that our identity is not static: we constantly evolve through what we experience and who we are connected with. Yet at our core, we always remain the same person. Will you dive in, beneath the skin of light?
Over de kunstenaar
Fenne Dinsbach (17 years old, final-year pre-university student at Het Macropedius | Commanderij College) developed this folly for the prestige project (a school competition) organized by Folly Art Norg (Groningen). She won the competition and was given the opportunity to realize her concept on a large scale and exhibit it in Norg last summer.
