BRUTE³

The Hooghuis

In the heart of Eindhoven, the imposing and unmistakable Hooghuis towers over the city. This large, concrete structure with its powerful geometric forms stands as a tribute to the raw beauty of Brutalist architecture. It seems untouched by time, a steady symbol in our rapidly changing world. During GLOW 2024, this iconic monument will come to life in a way you wouldn’t expect. In the light art installation BRUTE³, the Hooghuis will undergo a complete transformation.

The German artist collective ruestungsschmie.de, known for their daring and boundary-pushing projects, is reimagining how art is experienced. For GLOW 2024, they will transform the Hooghuis with BRUTE³, an experimental video mapping project. What was once a static structure will become a living being, telling its very own history while also offering a glimpse into its future.

BRUTE³ brings together various contrasts: light and shadow, sound and silence, digital and analogue. These opposing elements create a dynamic interplay, softening the rigid lines and sharp angles of the Hooghuis. The rhythm of broken beats unites with sharp light lines that warp the geometric shapes of the building. The result is a transformation that will forever change your perception of the Hooghuis.
