Light Parade

Light Parade

A unique light project can be found scattered along the route of GLOW. This project, which started weeks before GLOW, involves dozens of dancers from the Eindhoven region. In Light Parade, by the Italian artist collective Onda Studio and choreographer Annelies Vriendts, ordinary people like you and me dance in glowing suits, surprising us at various points along the GLOW route. The light festival becomes a stage for dance!

Light Parade is a participatory project where the local community, light, art, and technology come together to create a mobile performance. Wherever in the world it may be, this light artwork adapts to the environment, the people, and the possibilities of the moment. The project brings light, music, dance, and theater to the streets of Eindhoven. The light costumes are designed to fit people of all ages and sizes, and thanks to their integrated management and programming system, they quickly synchronize with the music chosen by the local choreographer.

In the lead-up to GLOW, residents and local dance schools were invited to participate in Light Parade. In several workshop sessions, the dancers were trained by choreographer Annelies Vriendts to not only learn the dance movements but also to get used to the light suits and the accompanying music. This collaboration between all the enthusiastic participants creates a unique experience where everyone contributes to the performance and to the overall GLOW experience. Through collective effort, a surprising flashmob was created, which captivates and surprises the audience at different moments and locations along the route.

Look around, and try to spot Light Parade!
