Saccade-based display

Saccade-based display

In everyday life, we unconsciously move our eyes to obtain visual information.

A saccadic eye movement is a specific human visual processing, where the eyes rapidly move in a horizontal direction from one fixation point to another. The Saccade-based Display utilizes this eye movement to present visual images.

The light of this display system changes its flicker pattern rapidly, and during a saccadic eye movement, a two-dimensional image can be perceived through the afterimage that remains on the retina. Without any projection screen and using only a single LED lighting line, two-dimensional, ghostly images can be seen, seemingly hanging in the air. The display can offer a new perspective on design and aesthetic production.
