SMART Photonics, TNO and PhotonJobs bring the future of light to life at GLOW 2026

Eindhoven, 5 November 2026 – During GLOW 2026, visitors looking up at the 55-metre-high façade of the Hooghuis building will see how light can transform public spaces into art. The possibilities of light on display in the heart of Eindhoven are closely linked to the innovative potential of photonic chips: technology developed in the region to transmit, measure and process information using light. By jointly supporting the light artwork TRIPLE POINT, PhotonJobs (powered by PhotonDelta), SMART Photonics and TNO aim to inspire a new generation of talent to help build a more sustainable digital future in Eindhoven.

From light art to sustainable data networks

TRIPLE POINT was created by Belgian artist Antoine Goldschmidt of studio Magicstreet. Using mist, lasers and colour, he brings the physical properties of light to life on a large scale. The flat façade of the Hooghuis building is transformed into a three-dimensional space that appears to move and constantly change shape.

Behind this artistic interplay of light lies a principle that is also central to photonic chip technology: the use of light particles, or photons, to transmit and receive information. As demand for data and smart technology continues to grow, photonic chips can contribute to faster, more accurate and more energy-efficient applications in areas including AI, data centres, healthcare, telecommunications and advanced sensor technology.

Ton van Mol, Managing Director at TNO: “The same light that inspires wonder in the streets of Eindhoven during GLOW is also changing the way information travels around the world. By using light to enable faster and more energy-efficient data networks, we are harnessing the potential of photonic chips for the benefit of society.”

Udette Kirsch, Chief Human Resource Officer at SMART Photonics: “The GLOW theme CONNECT beautifully illustrates how light can connect the world through photonic chips, but also how important collaboration is to Eindhoven’s position as an international centre for technology and innovation. We are proud to support an event that showcases the strength of our region and highlights how light technology developed locally contributes to the future.”

Evi Somers, Programme Director Human Capital at PhotonDelta: “Many people who marvel at TRIPLE POINT are unaware that behind this technology lies a rapidly growing industry working on solutions to real-world challenges and offering a wide range of career opportunities in this region. GLOW makes the possibilities of light accessible to a broad audience, while also highlighting the opportunities available in Eindhoven’s photonic chip industry.”
