ASML extends partnership with GLOW and collaborates with Summa on a light artwork
Eindhoven, October 31, 2024 – GLOW and ASML announce the continuation of their 12-year collaboration. For ASML, the Eindhoven light art festival, known internationally, is a way to contribute to an attractive region where bringing people together is central. ASML has signed on for a three-year partnership. A notable addition is that ASML will invite different local participants each year to create a light artwork together. For the upcoming edition, ASML is collaborating with students from Summa and TwoFiftyK.
GLOW and ASML share the ambition of bringing people together through light art. “We are incredibly pleased to continue our long-term partnership with ASML for the next three years. Over the years, ASML has created impressive light artworks for the Brainport community, such as Stay Tuned in 2022 and Evolution of Life on Emmasingel in 2023,” says Ronald Ramakers, director of GLOW. “The city makes GLOW. A partner like ASML is essential. Only together with the city, its residents, and the businesses can we organize an international light art festival of this scale.”
ASML Employee Involvement
As ASML is a partner of GLOW, its employees will also lead tours in various languages during the festival. For the first time, a tour in Dutch Sign Language will be offered, making the light art festival even more inclusive. The number of participants increases each year. Last year, ASML employees guided no fewer than 1,600 visitors. Marjolein de Hooge, head of social engagement at ASML, says: “It’s always fantastic to see how much GLOW resonates with our employees and their families. The light art festival is a highlight for the region every time, and we are excited to extend our partnership for three more years.”
Collaboration between ASML and Summa
ASML is not only a partner of GLOW but also an artist again this year. A group of 27 creative ASML employees has come together this edition with 29 students from three Summa programs at the GLOW Labs, where they developed light art for The Stream. Students from the Summa Technology, Summa Construction, and Summa Electrical & Installation Technology programs collaborated with ASML employees and the creative producer from Eindhoven’s TwoFiftyK over the past ten months to create a work of art that will be displayed at Lichtplein in Eindhoven. This artwork is an initiative everyone can contribute to. To give you a sneak peek: the artwork is called Rooted Together.
