GLOW once again proves to be a springboard for talented light artists
The GLOW Talent Awards were announced on the final evening of GLOW 2022. This year, the awards consisted of an expert jury prize and a public’s prize, for which the audience were asked to cast their vote online. The winner of the expert jury prize is The Shadow Organ. They received an amount of € 2500 to spend on the further development of the project at GLOW 2023. The winner of the public’s prize is Rainbow. They win a cash amount to put towards new work for next year’s edition.
Eindhoven understands the art of creating
As stated by mayor Jeroen Dijsselbloem during the opening of GLOW, Eindhoven understands the art of creating. Almost 80% of the light artworks were developed in Eindhoven and were displayed for the first time during GLOW. Unique light art that attracts many curators from light art festivals all over the world.
Festival director Ronald Ramakers says: “Based on our mission to ‘make the city GLOW’ and our ambition to become one of the world’s top 3 light art festivals, it is crucial that we give creative and technical talents the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience, and to present themselves to the general public. The Talent Award is therefore one of the highlights of GLOW for me”.
Around the world
A previous winner of the GLOW Talent Award is Valerie van Zuijlen with the project Moonlight. Valerie will be presenting her work in the Irish city of Cork at Spacefest. Another example is the Eindhoven-based Studio Toer – previously runner up for the GLOW Talent Award – that is now developing an international reputation with works that can be seen all over the world.
