As Blossom (2023), Studio Toer’s work in den Elzent originated from an initiative of the Bonheur Foundation. They traveled further as SpringVibes to Fellenoord (2024), and this year they will blossom in Best. A blossom that continues to spread. The fresh, sparkling scent of fragile flowers carries far on the spring breeze. This season symbolizes new life or more broadly, a new beginning. And that is exactly how you may experience this immersive light installation by Studio Toer: as a tribute to the beauty of nature, endlessly renewing itself.
The birth of a child, moving to a new home, starting a new job, finishing a degree, anyone who has ever experienced a fresh start will find something of themselves reflected in this work. You leave something behind and step into something new. It is both exciting and refreshing at once. Try to experience the work in that way. What do you see in it?
Anyone who has been to Japan knows that the cherry blossom, Sakura, symbolizes the transience of life. Its blooming is celebrated with Hanami Matsuri, the cherry blossom festival. The Japanese cherry blossom is the foundation for this work by Studio Toer. During GLOW, a bright pink glow transforms the quiet green space into a lively spectacle and offers a glimpse of what is coming, spring. At the same time, this work reminds us that change is always present. Sometimes visible, but more often beneath the surface. That, too, is something worth cherishing.

Studio Toer
Studio Toer is a multidisciplinary design collective based in Eindhoven. Founded in 2011 by Castor Bours and Wouter Widdershoven, the studio has since created an impressive body of work for renowned international festivals, including Vivid in Sydney, Fête des Lumières in Lyon, and i Light Singapore. Their connection with Eindhoven remains strong, with numerous light artworks created for GLOW. Their work is often playful and seemingly simple, yet rich in depth. With backgrounds in art and interactive design, and a highly explorative and experimental approach, Studio Toer continually pushes both the aesthetic and technical boundaries of design. The result: playful expressions in art and experience, ranging from light installations to objects and innovative products.
