Blueprint

Prinsenhof

You know how it goes: you make a beautiful plan, but when it comes to execution, things turn out just a little differently. That’s okay—sometimes the result is even better than what you imagined from behind your desk. Still, there are plans that must be followed to the letter. For instance, when safety is involved, or when it concerns a series of products that all need to look exactly the same. The calculations are done, the drawings are on paper: this is it, and nothing else.

Construction is one of those sectors where plans are followed meticulously. Although… in the past, things sometimes went differently. A contractor might place a window, door, or ornament just slightly differently than the architect had drawn. You can see that here too, at the Prinsenhof in Best. Originally built as a patronaat (a kind of Roman Catholic predecessor of a school), it’s now used as a venue for parties and events. Pronorm overlays the blueprint of the Prinsenhof onto the actual building. How many differences can you spot?

This year, you can find another fascinating visual puzzle—this time in Veldhoven. Pronorm is also projecting a Blueprintonto the former railway station building De Dreef in Veldhoven.
