Does this work ring a bell? It might. Because you saw this special, hopeful, and connecting work before at GLOW 2020, in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic. With this work, we thanked visitors to GLOW for what were then fifteen wonderful years. This year, we are celebrating our twentieth anniversary, and we are doing it all over again. Were you there five years ago?

The enormous garland of LED-lit red balls, stretching across Eindhoven, represented that mutual connection. Another 20,000 points of light were added, in and around the homes of Eindhoven residents. A warm, blue blanket of light – created by Finnish light artist Kari Kola – lay like a soothing dome over the city. Just by looking at it, you could feel the connection. With each other. With the city. With the world.

The importance of human contact, and the realization that we cannot do without it. In 2020, this became clearer than ever. Even now, five years later, this is still the case. We live in a world that is in turmoil on all sides. And within it, we need each other, perhaps more than ever. See the red dots, which you will find at the Pullman hotel this year, as a friendly reminder to keep seeking each other out. Together, we can create a better world.
