Raadhuis
Imagination, history, and myth. Fairytale-like, with recognizable visual motifs. A wondrous blue fountain strongly reminiscent of the fantastical world of the famous painter Hieronymus Bosch. Didn’t he paint a similar fountain in his The Garden of Earthly Delights?
It is no coincidence that this life-sized PANI projection on the Old Town Hall brings Bosch to mind. In fact, he was the direct source of inspiration for visual artist Maartje Meerman, who hand-painted this piece onto an 18×18 cm glass slide. Bosch had a tangible connection to the area between Best and Oirschot; the land once belonged to Aleid van de Meervenne, whom the master painter married, and this estate—Ten Rodeken—later became known as the Land of Bosch.
Meerman’s work reflects Oirschot, landscape, nature, and culture. The trees and water symbolize connection and life itself—made visible through intertwining branches, roots, and flowing water. Let yourself be carried away by the colorful, fluid imagery and the musical piece composed for this installation by Remko Kühne.
A unique highlight: Maartje Meerman created a diptych especially for GLOW. Its counterpart can be seen at the Lidwina Church in Best, literally bridging the connection between Oirschot and Best.
