Why, Why Ohh Why (YYOY) is a performance installation that addresses the current fear culture, a culture that is based mainly on fear of the possible and unknown. With this work, Nikki wants to create awareness for this elusive phenomenon and the influence it has on our society and on us as a person. For YYOY, an abstract space has been built in which the public is immersed in a multimedia experience. Led by a dark landscape created by elements of fragrance, image, color, light, temperature and spatial sound, the audience comes along abstract and emotional layers after which it eventually confronts with its own fear. Although the performance is matched by beginning and end, everything that is intervened is influenced by the dynamics between the different elements; the installation, sensory impulses, performers and spectators.

About the artist
