The Heuvel
And there you are… On the small square of the Heuvelgalerie, right in the middle of a stage. You are no longer just a visitor, viewer, or spectator, but the main act! The lights in the front row form the audience, watching your performance with eager anticipation. The roles have been reversed.
The light artwork EyesonYou by Philip Ross transforms the familiar square of the Heuvel into a theater. On the balcony above you, you see glowing spectators. Full of curiosity, enthusiasm, and energy, they look at you and your fellow performers. No matter how small they are, they make it loud and clear what they think of your act. Step into the spotlight and entertain! Grab the microphone and sing, jump high, or perform a dance. Et voilĂ , you’re rewarded with applause. Not in the mood for a performance? Even then, they will make themselves heard and encourage you to step out of your comfort zone. Together with other GLOW visitors, your movements and voice will bring the lights on the balcony to life. The more excitement, the better!
With this installation, Philip Ross highlights the two-way interaction between humans and technology. The idea that technology is entirely at our service is playfully debunked in EyesonYou: every time we use technology, it also plays us. If only that were always so visible… Go ahead, join in. We’re excited to see your show!
