FACES | connecting people puts people at the heart of the experience: a participatory artwork that everyone can take part in. Take a selfie and become part of a living collage where every face is essential to the whole.

The uploaded selfies are fragmented into small parts – eyes, noses, mouths – which are projected to bring the giant spheres and the Paterskerk church façade to life. Together, they form an ever-evolving collective portrait that connects, where you recognize yourself and meet the other up close.

Discover an eye that suddenly widens, a smile that flickers, a tense brow, a raised lip corner or a frown. These facial expressions represent the authentic emotions of people in Brainport, collected in real time at GLOW and at other locations in Eindhoven (ASML, Catharina Ziekenhuis, Máxima Medisch Centrum).

The artwork never looks the same twice as it’s generative and all visitors can contribute their piece to the puzzle. Everyone who submits their portrait becomes part of it, shining a light on the diverse faces and personalities that empower Brainport.

The artwork has been designed to connect and spark a dialogue. The technology brings human expression to life, as a reflection of our region. GLOW visitor interactions with the artwork move from selfie expressions to high-resolution projections, fostering emotions and connections among the GLOW audience – creating a sense of belonging in our community.
