In Liefde der Lieshout artist Fren Klomp explores together with the residents of the ORO Laarhuis, young people with disabilities, what makes Lieshout special to them. What do they love about their village? What makes them happy? Their answers form the heart of the artwork.
Their words and sounds come together in a soundscape, a landscape of sound that resonates with what visitors see. At the same time they create a cyanotype artwork together. This is a white print on a blue background created through a chemical process and sunlight. Their love literally becomes visible in blueprint form. The individual works are digitally combined into one vibrant whole, an ode to Lieshout and the love of its residents. Liefde der Lieshout celebrates the connection between people, place and light, a fusion of sound, image and emotion.
GLOW celebrates visibility through light. We do this together with you the visitor, with artists, students and residents. You are part of GLOW and GLOW is there for everyone. This artwork fits the festival in a special way. It shows and makes us feel what matters to others. In this way connection is created and you discover that you have more in common with others than you might think.
About the artist
Fren Klomp is a visual artist from Lieshout. From his studio Fren.chise he explores how art can connect people and encourage reflection. His work moves between the poetic and the social and ranges from traditional techniques to digital editing. With a curious eye and an open attitude he searches for beauty in encounters, stories and light. For Fren art is not only a form of expression but a way of life. The beginning, the middle and the end.
