Light Painting

Light Painting

In 2010, Spectaculaires presented their work at the Paterskerk. In 2011, together with Artslide, they transformed the elongated facade of the city hall into an immense painting. They used the facade as a canvas, applying ground paint first. Each brushstroke seemed to dent and sway the building’s facade, creating an illusion further enhanced by sound.

A painter then applied fantastic representations using brush and spatula, smoothly transitioning between recognizable elements and abstract compositions. With each addition, the memory of the city hall faded into the background. Occasionally, the painter appeared as a silhouette, making small changes up close. Eventually, the painting was detached from its surface, and the process started anew.
