Your face reflected in a mirrored surface above 18 Septemberplein? You bet! At least, if you submit your selfie and voice. You and 999 others will then be part of this artwork—MACHINA by BOBOLITO&Co—during GLOW, an installation that’s all about you, about us, and about the community we form together. This light art installation makes us smile, search, look, and listen. And it’s right there in Eindhoven’s central square—the very place where we come together, whether walking or biking, and from which we set off on adventures throughout the city.

The play of light on a thousand faces—including yours—creates ever-changing reflections, shadows, and encounters between the individual forms, activated by sunlight during the day and, in the evening, as a light art installation that puts the public space in the spotlight with countless smiles. Let yourself be carried away by the cheerful chatter and murmurs, and search for that one face: your neighbor’s, a coworker’s, your grandpa’s, your teacher’s, or your own. Will you join the search?

How can you participate?

From 4 September to 30 September, everyone is invited to take part. Submit your selfie and voice and see yourself and others become part of MACHINA, the light installation on display from 7–14 November 2026.

Using the specially developed app, you upload your selfie. Your selfie is then transformed into a clean vector line drawing. Based on this design, your face is cut from plexiglass as an abstract portrait with a unique engraved identification number. You will receive an email with this unique code, which allows you to collect your portrait after GLOW and take it home as a lasting keepsake. Once BOBOLITO&Co has converted your selfie, your original photo will of course be deleted.

Your face tells part of your story, now let your voice join in too. When submitting your selfie, you can also record a short voice message. What does connection mean to you? What brings you closer to others? Share it in one word or a short sentence. For example: laughing or crying together, dancing to music, being part of a team, or simply being there for each other. Your voice may become part of the soundscape surrounding MACHINA during GLOW.

On Sunday, 15 November, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, you can collect your portrait at 18 Septemberplein. Bring the unique code from your email and take home a tangible reminder of the artwork.

The Flemish collective BOBOLITO & Co operates internationally at the intersection of art, light, and technology—always with a touch of playfulness. The collective creates large-scale installations for light festivals, botanical gardens, museums, and public spaces. Their work explores the relationship between people, nature, and technology, translating complex themes into accessible, poetic experiences.
