For twenty years, GLOW has been bringing light art to the streets. And sometimes, that light art comes from the most unexpected places. Two years ago, Jessica Kuhn smuggled her work into the festival. What looked like an ordinary portable toilet turned out to be a magically glowing, rose-colored light object. And this year, Neo Toilet returns to GLOW. Prepare to be surprised!

But is this even art? And what makes art art? These are the questions Jessica Kuhn raises with her guerrilla-style interventions. Neo Toilet is part of a series of actions she seamlessly and secretly integrates into existing exhibitions. At GLOW 2023, visitors were left wondering: is this portable toilet actually part of the festival?

Jessica Kuhn

Jessica Kuhn is a Germany-born artist based in the Netherlands. In her work, she often plays with context, transforming everyday objects into surprising creations that challenge us to reflect on the meaning and value of art. She works with installations, glass, video, and playful interventions, exploring value, perception, and authorship through a curious and experimental approach.

In addition to creating art, she curates exhibitions and collaborates with others to support and promote experimental artistic practices.
