Portals

Central Station

Eindhoven Central Station, one of the gateways to the city and to the GLOW light festival, has been transformed into an illuminated entrance by students from SintLucas. This brilliant idea, welcoming travelers with light as part of their journey, was conceived at the GLOW Academy. The experience of GLOW thus begins not at the start of the festival, but already during the journey there.

In the GLOW Academy, the SintLucas student team collaborated with mentors and light artists to develop this concept. Their light artwork is inspired by the old “strippenkaart” – an iconic and everyday object symbolizing movement and connection. Although two-dimensional, the strippenkaart powerfully represents the flow of people and trains, as seen in public transportation worldwide.

With the artwork “Portals,” the students invite visitors to reflect on the interconnectedness between people. Just as train lines symbolize a journey, we are all part of a larger flow of innovation and creativity. This light artwork encourages us to pause and consider how we collectively contribute to this movement, reminding us that every small step counts in a larger journey. Visit Portals in the entrance hall of Eindhoven Central Station and experience how art, technology, and creativity come together—even while en route.
