In previous GLOW events, you saw the Schaduworgel moving through the streets. On walls, squares, and rooftops, they used light projections to share anecdotes from life. They gathered stories from Springplank040, where homeless people shared their experiences, spoke with nuns at Nazareth Monastery in Oirschot about their lives, and met seniors at Vitalis Vonderhof, who talked about their views on freedom. For this GLOW edition, the Schaduwmakers sought out the experiences of young people. They spoke with various groups and involved organizations such as Jong040, Buurtgezinnen, Eindje op weg, MDT Missie, and COA. In this way, young people contributed to the installation by sharing their stories or helping with the build.
This year, instead of a mobile shadow play on a cargo bike, there’s an interactive meeting place where every GLOW visitor is welcome. The Raiffeisenstraat parking lot is transformed into a Schaduwlab (Shadow Lab), a place where anecdotes and experiences of young people are visualized—stories that will resonate with many. What motivates the next generation? What drives them toward the future? The Shadow Lab is therefore not only an artwork with light projections on the walls but also a conversation starter. The Schaduwmakers aim to connect people from different generations and backgrounds. Sharing is essential to feel connected in society.
Come and watch, share your message or anecdote, and make it part of the Shadow Lab. In this way, it becomes part of the larger story of young people in society, reflected on the walls of the surrounding buildings.
