SuperNova#3

SuperNova#3

Kerktuin

One hundred slowly rotating objects that respond to UV light. That is SuperNova#3. The inspiration for this light artwork comes from the skies. The makers were fascinated by the phenomenon of neutron stars: the core of a giant star released after a complex process of implosions and explosions. The explosion of such a giant star is what we call a supernova. The name of this artwork, then, truly came from above.

When the hundred objects before your eyes come into contact with UV rays, they come to life. They dance in sync through a mesmerizing choreography, in colors reminiscent of the cosmos. The installation opens a window into another world, where the laws of nature take on a slightly different twist.

Our advice? Relax, watch, and let yourself be carried away on a journey through space and time. Marvel at the creative power and imaginative possibilities of humankind. Enjoy this moment of beauty in the darkness. And ask yourself: where is my journey actually taking me?

SuperNova#1 was previously shown during GLOW 2021.
