With its height of 105 meters, Admirant, completed in 2006, is the tallest building in Eindhoven. Two sides of this white residential tower have been used by Casa Magica as a canvas for an enormous projection. The displayed images are inspired by the history of the immediate surroundings – the birthplace of the Philips conglomerate – and reference technological, biological, and industrial processes. Due to its size, the installation is visible from a great distance, transforming Admirant into a beacon of light in nocturnal Eindhoven.
About the artist
Friedrich Forster and Sabine Weissinger have been working as a duo on light projects in public spaces since the mid-1990s. They mainly create large-scale projections. The facade of a building is usually used as the projection screen, sometimes even an interior wall. Because the projected images are precisely matched to the architecture, the appearance of the building is completely transformed.
