Windows of Light

Windows of Light

Castle garden

As you wander through dark streets, you might sometimes wonder: what is happening behind all those illuminated windows? Someone is watching television, another is cooking, two people are arguing, someone else is getting ready for bed. The life behind those windows is constantly changing. This thought inspired Wouter Brave to create this special, layered light installation.

You see a composition of planes, based on a wall with windows. The walls disappear and the windows become surfaces, colourful and irregular like the life unfolding behind them. Through shifts in depth, colour and composition, this artwork can bring you into an almost meditative state. Especially here, in the calming surroundings of the Helmond Castle garden. The visual appeal of the work stimulates curiosity, perhaps just as much curiosity as when we peer into the glowing windows of a dark street.
