About the artists
Craig Morrison & Atelier MCFW
Craig Morrison (photo on your right) is an artist and festival director. He became increasingly interested in introducing sustainable working methods. As an initiator of numerous collaborations between artists from various disciplines, he has achieved interesting and immersive results, along with wonderful interactions with many other artists and students. His projects focus on developing visual art in public spaces using light and technology. “Art reflects who we are. It nurtures our spirits and enriches us. Art is something that can bring positive change to people’s lives, as Gerhard Richter said, ‘Art is the highest form of hope.’ I agree with him.”
AtelierMCFW is a design agency from Eindhoven founded by Marvin Corneille and Frank Willems, who collaborated with Studio Kim Haagen for this project. Craig Morrison commissioned the agency to create a design for the international Beacon project, drawing inspiration from the dynamic and innovative aspects of the city of Eindhoven. This encompasses speed, movement, technology, and diversity. All these elements, combined with the origin of Beacon in the city of Jyväskylä, Finland, result in a light art piece where interaction and group dynamics play a significant role. Through social interaction and the involvement of students from ROC Ter AA, Beacon has acquired an angular exterior where lines are illuminated by black light
