Have you ever wanted to stand in a choir? And even more uniquely, with figures like Napoleon Bonaparte or Vincent van Gogh? You would never have imagined that you could ever dance with Maria van Strijp, let alone sing along with the Phillips family. During GLOW 2023, you can check off that experience from your bucket list.

Inook’s Grand Mix will make you smile. The centuries-old faces from the collection of the Rijksmuseum present a joyful sound and light show. It’s a performance of individuals you’ve previously seen in a silent or classical pose. From November 11th to 18th, these portraits come to life, creating a musical spectacle on both sides of Wilhelminaplein. They perform a selection of hits, of which you probably know the lyrics, spanning across various musical genres such as pop, hip hop, and rock, representing different musical eras. The masterpieces invite you to listen, sing, and dance along.

Inook’s creations are always intended to get the audience moving, entertained, and immersed in a captivating atmosphere that is accessible to everyone. Grand Mix provides a moment where people of all generations are welcome to sing and dance together in public space. Alongside an unpredictable choir, you’ll find familiar faces from Eindhoven and the muses of the greatest masters of painting: Rembrandt and Van Gogh.

About the artists

Inook

Moetu Batlle and David Passegand, graduates of the French ESDI (École supérieure de Design Industriel), joined forces in 2000 to establish Inook, a digital design agency. For 20 years, they have been conceiving innovative, creative, and dynamic projects for companies, brands, and institutions seeking a strong identity. Their expertise includes interfaces, software, video and interactive installations, websites, connected objects, and more. Simultaneously, they developed the Anooki, an animation program that began on the internet and evolved into sound and light shows featuring gigantic inflatable figures that travel the world. They draw inspiration from Terry Gilliam (Monty Python) and his absurd, quirky short animated films. Inook’s work emphasizes the power of humor in conveying diverse messages through the use of cutting-edge technology. “We always keep an eye on the evolution of creative tools because they are crucial to our work. Grand Mix couldn’t have existed just two years ago.”
