Like a human skyline of the city of Eindhoven: this is how a group of silhouettes illuminates Clausplein during GLOW. Together, they cast a warm, dynamic light. With that light, the people depicted reach out to you, the visitor: come on in, go ahead, and listen to us.
And as they cast their comforting rays across the square, you can hear them speaking, calling out, whispering, or reciting poetry. These are sounds, words, sentences, and paragraphs based on conversations with real Eindhoven residents. Their voices and lives form the foundation for a living poem in light and language. For although the city physically consists of roads and buildings, it is its residents who truly bring it to life.
Contours of the City presents a poetic portrait of Eindhoven today. It is a fitting tribute to our partner, GGD Brabant-Zuidoost, which has been working here for a century to build a healthy city. Because health begins with connection, truly seeing, hearing, and meeting one another.
About the artist
Ploeg-e is the new, multidisciplinary collective for Eindhoven, centered around three writers, a light artist, and a designer. Through words, this collective brings more wonder to the streets of Eindhoven. They do this through all kinds of projects in the city, such as performances, projects in public spaces, a traveling talk show, and an alternative city guide.
