El naufragio de los hombres

El naufragio de los hombres

Video artist Charly Nijensohn travels to the most remote and abandoned areas in the world to capture the relationship between humans and their environment in an exemplary way.

The images for “El naufragio de los hombres” (The Shipwreck of Humanity) were shot in the Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia. During the dry season, it is an expansive salt flat, but during the rainy season, the area floods, transforming it into a surreal landscape. Footage of salt blocks in an endless lake, occasionally with a human figure standing on them, is displayed on three screens side by side.
