Raadhuisstraat
A flock of birds flying overhead at twilight on a summer evening. It never ceases to fascinate how complex patterns can emerge from their simple individual movements. That was precisely the inspiration for Klaverknoop, a four-meter-tall light installation in the shape of a continuous loop with no beginning or end. Thousands of individually controlled LEDs come together to form an enchanting and ever-changing image.
Walk around the work and see how a change in perspective makes this image look different every time. If you like, you can even sit underneath the work. Then you’ll look up, with the dark sky as a backdrop. Sometimes everything seems to move as one, only to break apart again into individual points of light. There’s always something new to discover, without needing to understand exactly how it works. And so, Klaverknoop plays with the boundary between order and chaos, between repetition and change. How does this work move you?
About the artist
Uif Putters creates kinetic light installations that bring together technology, movement, and light. In his work, geometric structures and simple movements give rise to ever-changing, almost organic patterns. He designs, builds, and programs his installations himself. In doing so, mechanics and light are not separate components. Together they form a single, moving whole.
