Leuchtbogen

Leuchtbogen

Robert Paul Göschel creates light installations in public spaces and also provides lighting for theater performances, films, and exhibitions. Over the past fourteen years, he has executed diverse assignments related to light, gaining a profound understanding of the medium’s possibilities.

In the Dommel, Göschel presents the work “Leuchtbogen” (Luminous Arch). Rising from the water’s surface is a towering arch of glowing orange light. The reflection in the water duplicates the arch into a perfect circle. The weather conditions and water ripples cause the image to appear differently throughout the day.

The arch’s strict, geometric shape refers to man-made structures such as buildings, bridges, or underpasses. Simultaneously, the work references nature, as it is composed of light and influenced by wind and water. In this quiet section of the city, with green riverbanks and the angular forms of the nearby Van Abbemuseum, the installation shines brightly.
