A special light project can be found all along the GLOW route. It is a project that started weeks before GLOW, with dozens of dancers from Best. In Light Parade, by the Italian artist collective Onda Studio and choreographer Annelies Vriends, people just like you and me dance in illuminated costumes and surprise us at various points along the GLOW route. The light festival becomes a stage for dance!
Light Parade is a participatory project in which community, light, art and technology come together to create a travelling performance. Wherever it takes place, this light artwork adapts to its surroundings, the people and the possibilities of the moment. The project brings light, music, dance and theatre to the streets of Eindhoven.
The illuminated costumes are designed to fit people of all ages and sizes. Thanks to their integrated control and programming system, they can quickly be synchronised with the music selected by the local choreographer. During a series of workshops, choreographer Annelies Vriends trained the dancers not only to learn the choreography, but also to become familiar with the illuminated costumes and the music. This collaboration between all the enthusiastic participants creates a unique experience in which everyone contributes to the performance and to the GLOW experience.
Their combined efforts result in a surprising flash mob that catches the audience by surprise at different moments and locations along the route.
Look around you and see if you can spot Light Parade!
