Parallax Paradoxon

Parallax Paradoxon

Along the curvature of space, ‘Parallax Paradoxon’ experiments with the bending of time and space. It succeeds in making the building sway; oscillating in space and swinging between architecture and light. In relation to distortion and deformation, it stands in stark contrast to 3D projection, serving as the antithesis to projection arrangements. No images are projected onto the building for decoration. Instead, the entire luminous space is utilized, merging with the existing structure, accentuating, and distorting it. Hidden perspectives are revealed, and the object is challenged rather than adorned. This creates a dialogue between light and architecture, between image and structure: they influence each other as light and matter collide.

About the artist

Starsky

Starsky creates video installations, stage projections, live visuals, and wide-screen projections. In doing so, she combines images, language, communication, and spaces into a single artwork. A synthesis of individual elements where the sudden and ephemeral illumination lingers in the emotional memory of the spectator. Starsky has made projections for various places, including the Museum of Islamic Art, the Emir of Qatar’s Palace, the City Hall, the State Opera, the University, the Imperial Palace, St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the Künstlerhaus, and the office of the Austrian Chancellor. There is nothing she cannot transform with color, form, word, or light, be it architecture, structure, environment, or public spaces.
