Rechtestraat
An explosion of passion, enriched with a touch of madness that makes every detail unique – that’s how the Italian family company Luminarie De Cagna describes their work for this year’s GLOW. With gigantic illuminated arches, the collective creates a fairytale-like, cathedral-inspired passageway. Step by step, you walk through an enchanting corridor: a bombardment of color condensed into a bright, elongated space. And all of this right in the heart of Eindhoven’s vibrant city center. Wander through, look up and around, and don’t be afraid to let your jaw drop. Am I dreaming, or is this real?
Those who have seen this group before know: their name is a guarantee of true light art. In 2011, for example, a huge illuminated dome stood in front of Central Station, and in 2015 they set the Stadhuisplein ablaze with a grand cathedral of light and color. This year’s work could already be seen in an adapted version on the Demer back in 2010.
Luminarie De Cagna shows how music, light, and a bold dose of creativity and courage can push boundaries and create entirely new worlds. A street that usually feels so ordinary suddenly transforms into a paradise of light. Perhaps it even changes the way you see your own everyday life. What will you take away from this installation?
