River of Light

River of Light

For River of Light, the artists took inspiration from an artwork on Vestdijk, consisting of square pillars enclosed by an architrave. The object is symmetrical in structure and predominantly composed of straight lines. The surrounding buildings are also sleek and geometric in shape.

To counterbalance this static, ordered environment, Mr. Beam opted for a dynamic installation with round and natural forms. The exterior of the construction is entirely covered with projections. Small mechanical and organic forms move across the surface of the pillars, seemingly passing energy to each other, creating a flow of light and color that knows no beginning or end.
