Tesla Coil

Tesla Coil

The Tesla Coil returns to GLOW! This year, you can admire the lightning bolts at the pond of artwork ‘SOH 19’ by artist Alex Vermeulen. It is the well-known pond with the Buddha statue in its centre, surrounded by the floating eggs equipped with solar panels. The Buddha is elevated above water-level. The lightning bolts, which are generated by the Tesla Coil, will strike the water in and around the Buddha statue. Did you know that this is how life on earth started? Together, lightning bolts, air and water created the amino acids, which is the base of DNA.

On and in the water, the molecular beginning of life is depicted by means of projections of the chemical prehistoric processes. In between the sound of the lightning bolts, you will hear music by Eddy de Clercq, especially composed for this work of art.
