The work in 2006 was the inaugural piece for the brand-new GLOW. It was only shown as an opening act and presented twice. Due to the limited number of people who saw it, a reprisal took place in 2011.
On the outer walls of the Van Abbemuseum, a projection was displayed, suggesting that the building was catching fire and soon to be engulfed in flames. The projection was accurately tailored to the shape of the building, making the museum’s actual structure disappear, and the fire illusion appeared lifelike.
With this work, De Richemond referred to a quote by Pablo Picasso, urging to set museums on fire to release creativity that might be trapped within. By metaphorically breaking down the walls, the gap between art and the public could be bridged. The accompanying music was inspired by a composition by Claude Debussy.
