CLOUD

CLOUD is an interactive light sculpture composed of over six thousand incandescent bulbs. Only 200 of them are functioning, while the rest are burnt out and partially collected from previous exhibitions. The dark, broken bulbs determine the appearance and the ‘skin’ of the installation. The burning bulbs create the illusion that the entire cloud emits light from within.

The audience can use pull cords to turn the bulbs on or off. In this way, the visitors of GLOW have the final say: do they want the cloud to light up as a whole or to extinguish it? Everything is possible, as long as they collaborate! The Canadian artists prompt us to consider alternative uses for household items, the flow of waste that we collectively produce, and possibilities for reuse. With their installation, they also encourage us to engage with others and make decisions collaboratively.
