A fierce fire, right in the middle of the dark space. This flame doesn’t need wood to burn—it needs people. Walk around the installation: the sensors react to your presence. Even strangers on the other side of the fire glow warmly: you can see each other—literally.
Are there people standing around this installation on all sides? Then Aura finds its balance. The fire burns at full brightness; you can even hear it crackling softly. It’s a moment that arises when enough people remain standing around the installation at the same time. Are you leaving again? Then the balance is broken, and the fire begins its search anew. And so, thanks to Aura, connecting with others becomes the natural consequence of simply being present together.
About the artist
Ceren Kazaz is an Industrial Design student at Eindhoven University of Technology. She grew up across three countries, always finding herself the stranger in a new crowd. That experience drives her work: designing with light, technology and interaction to create moments where strangers naturally feel part of something together.
