Infinity

This year, Stefan Hofmann presents Infinity, a circular installation consisting of fifty standing elements. Each element contains white LEDs programmed to create lines of light. The lines grow and shrink, glow and fade, forming a projection screen that surrounds the visitor completely.

The line pattern fills the field of view entirely, making it impossible for the audience to escape its presence. The program lasts fifteen minutes and includes significant contrasts between light and darkness, resulting in afterimages and forcing the eye to continuously adjust to the light levels. Hofmann aims to make light experiential by pushing the boundaries of human perception.
