Canal Helmond
A gigantic, colourful, glowing octopus floating in Helmond’s canal. It’s not a sight you come across every day. But during GLOW, you can! Come and see it for yourself!
This impressive octopus, with its waving tentacles, is the result of the hard work of students from Praktijkcollege Helmond. Thanks to mechanical engineering, the tentacles can move, creating something truly special for visitors to witness: the octopus comes to life right before their eyes.
With this project, the students of Praktijkcollege Helmond create a mythical connection between art, technology, creativity and collaboration. Guided by specialist teachers and local businesses, the students brought this unique octopus to life. Come and be amazed. This is something you won’t want to miss!
Carat, Driessen Groep and Museum Helmond embrace the Octopus. The artwork reflects what Makers of the Future means to them: young people using their skills and ingenuity to build something themselves. Museum Helmond is developing the MakersLab in the Kunsthal, a space where all makers are welcome to explore and develop their creativity. This project was made possible in part by De la Roy (Gemert), Stimac (Deurne), Lixero (Deurne) and Watersport Paradise (Helmond).
