For his contribution to GLOW 2014, Michel Suk used the massive façade of the DELA building as a canvas for the kinetic light sculpture Statemachine. 24 large light spots that can rotate and tilt are attached along the facade. What makes this installation special is that 12 of the 24 spots can also move vertically, creating constantly changing light setups. Sound fragments that evoke associations with the mechanism of a machine emphasize the moments that connect rhythm in light and sound. The ingenious interplay of sound, light, and movement brings the flat building to life.
About the artist
Light designer Michel Suk is no stranger to GLOW. Previously, in collaboration with composer Bart van Dongen, he presented an audiovisual spectacle on and around the TU/e campus and added projections and LED lighting accents to choir music in the Catharinakerk.
