This work feels like an absurdist dream in which you -a miniature human- splash around in a bubble bath of strange proportions. Hold your breath for an overwhelming wave of light and sound. Blow on the shiny bubbles, bubble above and below the water, and let yourself drift away in this cheerful whirlpool. Stay as long as you like and come back again: dive in alone, with a friend, with your dog, or with your neighbor. We promise: here on Lodewijk Napoleonplein, there’s always a great atmosphere.
With this work, Studio Koen Steger brings the power of imagination and creativity to life in all its glory. If you can see an ordinary, paved square as a bath, what else is possible? In your mind, anything is imaginable, as long as you’re open to it. The vibrant installation Bubbelbad invites play and curiosity together, in that underwater world while simultaneously paying homage to the imagination. Will you bubble along?
About the artist
Experience and lighting designer Koen Steger immersed himself in the experience of space and time from a young age, discovering his fascination with light along the way. He designs worlds in which people can immerse themselves. Through his work, he hopes to spark something in people, helping them (re)learn to marvel and (re)discover the joy of play and imagination.
