In an office of the Lucifer Factory, a bright searchlight is placed, which displays the window frames of the room as large shadows in the surrounding hall. In this hall, now used as a parking garage, sounds can be heard resembling the hum of cars occasionally mixed with street noise. Familiar sounds for this place, but they only stand out when presented in an unusual setting like this.
The Lucifer Factory has a long history and has served various purposes over the years. Mark Bain’s installation refers to elements from that history with light and sound, capturing some of the building’s character. With The Light House, the artist activates our senses and invites us to view and listen to the space as if it were the first time.
